- OVERALL FUNCTION
• To develop basic process engineering design for project definitions
• To work closely with the project engineers of other discipline to execute new projects
• To develop commissioning /start up procedures, operational SOPs and lead the activities including hazard analysis
• To carry out process studies and lead process optimization activities for new and existing operations.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Process Development & Optimisation
Lead the development of conceptual design with respect to process, technology and key equipment working with internal and external specialists eg. R&D, technology providers, engineering companies. Review processes, identify, develop and realise process optimisation opportunities
2. Project Engineering
Prepare basic and detailed engineering documentation such as PFD, P&ID, Process design (MB & EB), Process control philosophy, basic equipment sizing and process datasheet. Responsible for checking & approval of third party design work & documents to ensure compliance to Synthomer standards
3. Cost Estimation and Tracking
To prepare cost estimates which are to be reviewed and accuracies improved during the lifecycle of projects. Prepare varying levels of project schedules that will be used for tracking and reporting on progress.
4. Process Hazard Analysis
Organise and participate in risk assessments of design such as hazard studies, LOPA, SIL assessment, ESD philosophy to ensure design is inherently safe for operation.
5. Internal & External Communication
Organise briefing sessions on process and design concepts with key stakeholders such as operations, maintenance, technical, R&D, vendors, contractors and consultants.
6. Commissioning
Prepare commissioning plans and procedures, operational SOPs, train operators, lead the start-up activities and carry out reporting.
7. Process Improvement & Troubleshooting
Carry out plant capacity and productivity studies as well as execute process improvement activities while working closely with the site operation team.
- Requirements :
- IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE
• Fluent in English written and spoken is a must
• Relevant experience in the key arrears of responsibilities
• Able to work independently and adapt to a highly demanding environment
• Fully committed, results driven, good interpersonal skills, a team player and good time management skills
• Knowledge and experience in a chemical processing environment is a must ideally with batch manufacturing exposure
• Experience of applying Process Safety Techniques to designs including understanding of Process Control
• Must be willing to work around Malaysia and overseas on project basis when required
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Degree in Chemical Engineering is a must
• Computer literate
• Minimum 3 years working experience as a Process/Project Engineer in a Petrochemical/Chemical Industry
