Harper Wira Sdn. Bhd. is a by-product of a century old trading business that started in 1867 by 3 enterprising Britons Samual Gilfillan, William Adamson and H.W Wood. Known as Gilfillan, Wood and Co. , this company was later expanded by a merger in 1886 with A.C Harper & Co. , whose founder was Archie Charles Harper. Thus was created the group known as Harper Gilfillan and their activities spread from the original base in Singapore throughout Malaysia and Brunei.
The group diversified its businesses to include shipping and forwarding and in 1962, with the involvement of the Malaysian Armed Forces Corporative (Koperasi Angkatan Tentera Malaysia Bhd.) as major shareholder. Management of these activities was done under the name Harper Wira Sdn Bhd. A further change of hand in shareholding saw the inclusion of Wallem Shipping Group and Malaysian businessman, Tengku Dato’ Zainal Rashid Bin Tengku Mahmood.
The company continued to maintain the name Harper Wira because it had, by then, become a household name in the local logistics scene.
