Career in Psychology

Psychology is a discipline concerned with behavior in both human and non human animals. Psychologists study the connection of two crucial relationships. One is between the function of the brain and behavior, and the other between nature and behavior. They develop concepts and test them through their studies.

Hence, simply put, a psychologist is a person who studies the mind and behavior. They work within a wide range of realms and topics. Psychologists work with patients to help them modify any behaviors that may be having negative consequences on their general health, or association with others.

Categories of careers in psychology;

Child psychologist

They are accountable for investigating, exploring and making a diagnosis of the cerebral, social and poignant maturity of babies, and the way children behave from the time they are born to puberty. They also study hereditary, individual character, and intellect growth and development of language.


Cognitive neuroscientist

This branch of psychologists study and comprehend how the human mind functions as well as their connection to conduct and growth. They are supposed to learn and carry out a study on the things that humans do and what moves them to do them.


Cognitive psychologist

A cognitive psychologist scrutinizes a person’s thinking by trying to understand how people manage and hold information details, particularly in respect to things like verbal skills, judgment and resolving problems.  

Engineering psychologists

They take facts, and the mechanical aspect of psychology. They apply this in the discipline of engineering so as to facilitate construction of improved techniques and procedures that may help advance psychology as a field.


Forensic psychologists

They are the bridge that connects the discipline of psychology, to the criminal Justice system. They apply this science in the Criminal justice system, and they often testify in courts or aid police in compiling and validating evidence. They scrutinize reports, and even help the trial Judges to ascertain the mental aptitude of defendants.


Research psychologists

Research psychologists conduct research at centers, universities, corporations, non-profit organizations, or for the government. They look at patterns and tendencies of behaviors in humans or animals so as to learn or predict about their effects, learning processes, etc.


Consumer psychologists

A consumer psychologist will study why and how people buy some products and not others. They study things like thoughts, culture, perceptions, motivation impact and what marketers can do to reach out to their targets. They specialize in decision making and social persuasion.
