- Responsible for the engineering, maintenance and improvement of the instrument equipment, plant control systems specifically the distributed control system (DCS & PLCs) and carrying out minor configurations and/or modification/programming to DCS system. 70% of Role is focused on Control Systems and 30% Instrument
Engineering.
1. Identify and analyse plant engineering problem and recommend cost effective solutions to resolve them.
2. Develop procedures for the calibration and testing control and equipment according the Company’s Quality Management System, Site requirements and current Environment, Health & Regulation.
Maintenance Engineering
1. Identify and analyse plant engineering problems and recommend cost effective solutions to resolve them.
2. Develop the preventative maintenance plan to reduce breakdown situations.
3. Identify and improve procedures for maintenance of engineering plant for efficiency and safety.
4. Discuss any safety or production downtime critical mechanical issues with the Engineering Manager
5. Develop the spares, materials and consumable items stock holding strategy using the computerized maintenance management system.
6. Procure goods and services in the course of carrying out maintenance activities
7. Identify new suppliers for equipment, materials and services to reduce cost and improve service and quality.
8. Utilise the Computerized Maintenance Management System to achieve his objectives.
9. Ensures site instrumentation and control system documentation is maintained.
System Engineering
1. Develop and maintain the console and engineering/operating station Sub-Systems of the site distributed control system.
2. Carry out the development and maintenance of the Controller Sub-Systems of the site distributed control system and provide technical support.
3. Ensures site distributed control system documentation in maintained
4. Develop and maintain the site shutdown systems HIMA
5. Ensures the documentation for the site shutdown systems is maintained.
Project Engineering
1. Identify control, and instrumentation requirements for new projects with the engineer responsible for the project, utilizing outside resources where necessary.
2. Design and specify control, instrumentation and electrical systems for new projects with the engineer responsible for the project, utilising outside resources where necessary.
3. Estimate the cost of control, instrumentation and electrical equipment and its installation with the engineer responsible for the project, utilizing outside resources where necessary.
4. Supervise electrical, instrumentation and control equipment and system installation on the site, utilizing outside resources where necessary.
5. Ensure all control, and instrumentation equipment and systems are commissioned, utilizing outside resources where necessary.
6. Approve the work of outside engineers and technicians.
7. Ensure all production personnel are trained on new equipment and systems.
8. Ensure all work is carried out in line with the Company’s regulations, the Quality and Environmental Management System and current Health & Safety legislation
Safety, Health and Environment
1. To comply with the Site SHE procedures and regulations
2. To drive in accordance with the law and adhere to the Company policy - Requirements :
- 1. Degree in Engineering or related discipline (Ideally Control & Instrument Engineering)
2. Computer literate
3. DCS or system engineer in a Chemical, Oil & Gas or specialty Plastics industry with minimum 3 years experience.
